So resetting passwords while you're online is something that's fairly simple and straightforward. But what happens if you have a user who's traveling? Let's say, for example, they're in a location where they don't have internet access from their computer itself. They're, say, in a hotel where you have to do the login thing in order to do that. So the Forget My Password link won't work. Or anything else for that matter. They can't get on the internet.
We have a solution for that in Password Manager. It's called the Offline Password Reset.
We click on it. And what happens here is that it's giving us a challenge response. So this is actually the challenge. We're going to take this, and we're going to input into another computer.
In order for us to complete the password reset, we still need to actually reset in Active Directory. So that's what we're going to do here. Normally, this is done through a cell phone, or a tablet, or something that has internet access. And the website's purposely designed to be able to be used on a small screen if you need to. But for purposes of this demo, we're just going to go ahead and do it on a second computer. It's just easier to show through this.
And we've seen this before. This is the same process that we saw earlier. So I'm going through it fairly quickly.
You'll notice here that it's asking for the challenge code. I'm going to go ahead and paste that in there, which I've done there, and put a password in. And click Next. OK, there we go.
So now we've gone ahead, and it has given us the new password that we need. And it's reset the password in Active Directory, and it's given us the response code. So we'll take that back to the original computer.
And now, lastly, we're back to our original machine. And now we're ready to go ahead and enter the response code and the new password. Now we enter the password, and we click Next. And it says, Your password has been successfully reset. And we can log in with our new password even though this computer was not on the network at the time.
And there we go. We're all logged in with our new password on a computer that was not on the network.
